Working at Minden Gross LLP
How best to describe Minden Gross LLP? We are a business-oriented mid-size firm, large enough to serve multinational clients yet of a size where individual talent makes a noticeable contribution. Our environment values a head for business as well as for law and fully supports agile minds acting decisively.
Our main practice areas can be condensed into: Business Law, Real Estate, and Litigation – each of which incorporates various sub-groups, such as Financial Services, Employment and Labour, Estates, Tax, Securities, and Leasing to name a few. One of the things that makes us stand out is our ability to not only provide students with a sophisticated legal experience but also to provide a warm environment in which to grow.
We hired three 2L summer students for 2019. These students will spend 14 weeks with us, getting to know our professionals, staff, and practice areas. We offer a flexible summer program where students can dedicate the majority of their time working with professionals in a particular area of interest or they can explore many areas over the course of the summer. We do not have set rotations as we prefer to work with the students to tailor the experience to their interests and goals.
For Summer 2020, we expect to hire three 2L students. We will recruit in February 2020 for these three positions. We will not participate in the Toronto On-Campus Interview (OCI) process nor the Law Society of Ontario’s recruitment process in November. Please check back for an update on our Summer 2020 application deadline and interview dates.
We hire three articling students each year to spend their 10 month articling term with us, learning every facet of the practice of law. We offer a structured rotation system, with our articling students spending just over three months in each of our three main practice areas: Business Law, Real Estate, and Litigation. Each rotation is supervised by a mentor, who will be there as a sounding board for students for any issues that may pop up.
We solicit feedback on the experience and the students' progress throughout the articling terms, and we conclude the articling period with an in-depth discussion with each student about their potential future at Minden Gross LLP as an associate. We encourage all students to give us candid feedback about areas in the articling program we can improve upon.
Please note we have completed our hiring for the 2020-2021 articling term. Our three 2019 Summer Students will be returning for their articles and we will therefore not participate in this year’s articling recruitment process. We wish all candidates success in their search for an articling position!
