Whitney is an Associate in our Business Law Group and an active member of the firm’s Cannabis Law Group.
She has developed expertise and routinely advises her clients on the legal and regulatory framework which governs cannabis businesses on the federal, provincial, and municipal levels. Whitney is well-versed in regulatory issues affecting various industry participants, including licensed producers, investors, ancillary-business owners, innovators, brand-houses, retailers, and more. In addition to providing regulatory advice on nuanced areas of the law like the advertising and promotion of cannabis, Whitney works with clients to advise on various commercial and industry-focused agreements, research and development agreements and grants, licensing, wholesale, supply, and distribution agreements.
She is a prolific author and is featured in CannaInvestor Magazine and is called on to comment on industry-related stories by print and online publications including Cannabis Daily, The Leaf Cannabis News, Canadian Lawyer, Law Times, Advocates’ Daily as well as traditional big media. She is a regular contributor to the online resource, Canada Cannabis Legal.
Prior to her focus in the cannabis industry, Whitney practiced in the firm’s Litigation Group and maintained a broad commercial litigation practice. She independently conducted trials, contested motions and hearings before the Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Appeal, and argued arbitrations and before various tribunals.
Her multidisciplinary experience puts her in a unique position to guide her clients on how to best position themselves for growth and success in Canada’s cannabis industry.
